Addiction & gambling recovery coaching for adults, young adults, and their families — Dallas, Texas

Your loved one isn’t broken. Recovery coaching, interventions, and family support.

YANA stands for You Are Not Alone.

I work directly with your loved one, and with you, to figure out a realistic next step — even if previous programs haven’t helped.

I answer personally — no call center, no judgment.

  • Confidential
  • Just a clear next step

What to expect

What happens when you call.

A confidential conversation

A direct, one-on-one conversation with me about what’s happening with your loved one.

An honest assessment, and a plan

I share what I’m seeing, including the parts that are difficult to hear, and outline a realistic next step.

Ongoing support, at your pace

There’s no set timeline — we move at whatever pace makes sense for your family.

A parent smiles with visible relief while on a phone call.
How I help

Services for your family, offered plainly.

I work with adults and young adults, and with the families who love them — crisis response, recovery coaching, interventions, family case management, sober transports, and gambling addiction coaching.

Families usually reach out when they feel powerless — when nothing they’ve tried has worked. That feeling is real. It’s also not the end of the story.

  • As a family member or loved one, it helps to have someone to talk to who can help you find the right resources.

  • I work in partnership with therapists and psychiatrists, and I can help you find the right referrals.

You don’t have to know what to say. The next step is one phone call.

Ongoing, personal support

You and your family won’t be doing this alone.

I stay in touch and follow up personally when things are hard — for your loved one, and for you.

The process

What working with YANA looks like.

You call.

You don’t need the right words, and you don’t need to know what you’re asking for. Describe what’s happening in your own way — that is enough to start. Nothing you say obligates you to anything.

Everything you tell me is confidential.

What I see, and what to do next.

An honest assessment of what needs to happen — and a concrete next step by the end of the conversation.

A mentor and client share an animated, eye-contact conversation over coffee at a sunlit kitchen table.

I start with your loved one.

In person, wherever makes sense — their home, your home, or another place that works for your family.

Your family stays in the loop.

You hear what’s happening without your loved one feeling reported on.

A parent laughs with their two children on a porch step, another parent reading quietly behind them.

One point of contact, throughout.

This stays personal and flexible. I handle the day-to-day logistics.

There are no guarantees in recovery. What I offer is honest, steady work.

About

Michael Fowler

Recovery Coach and InterventionistFounder, YANA Recovery Services

I have been working in this field for over 20 years, with over 10 years of recovery coaching experience — in roles spanning technology, admissions, business development, and leadership. I am familiar with the recovery and treatment landscape.

I work in partnership with Campbell Recovery Services in Dallas, and served as the Addiction and Recovery contact at Highland Park United Methodist Church, supporting the 12-step programs held in the building. I also work in partnership with therapists and psychiatrists, and I can help you find the right referrals.

My practice is built on direct experience and the ability to relate to the adults and young adults I work with. I work with the whole family, not only the client — and every conversation stays completely confidential.

In a 2014 interview, I was asked what I would say to someone who felt there was no way out:

You are not alone. If you feel like there’s no hope, there is hope. And if I can do it, anybody can do it.

Coaching and intervention services are not therapy or clinical treatment. I work alongside licensed clinicians and treatment providers — I am not a therapist, counselor, or clinician.

How I help your family

Services.

I provide each of the following services personally.

  1. Crisis Response

When things are urgent, I respond. An assessment of where things actually stand, help finding the right detox or treatment placement, and I stay with your loved one personally to help stabilize things — with team backup, never working alone.

    (214) 535-2017
  2. Recovery Coaching

I meet your loved one where they are — their home, your home. I help them find sponsors, home groups, and meetings that fit their situation.

  3. Gambling Addiction Coaching

I have personal experience with gambling recovery. My free weekly support group is open to your loved one from day one — more on that below.

  4. Interventions

A structured, respectful intervention, tailored to your family’s situation, built to invite your loved one into help.

    How it unfolds

    1. i.A first conversation with me, in confidence.
    2. ii.Your family prepares together, with my guidance, before anyone else is approached.
    3. iii.The intervention itself — no ultimatums.
  5. Family Case Management

I work with you as much as with your loved one — coaching on boundaries and detachment, and handling logistics day to day, as your one point of contact.

  6. Sober Transports

Safe transport to and from detox, treatment, or sober living — anywhere in the country.

Questions families ask

Answers to common questions.

Is this therapy?
No. I’m a Recovery Coach and Interventionist — not a therapist, counselor, or clinician. I work alongside licensed clinicians and treatment providers rather than replacing them. Coaching, accountability, and logistics are my focus.
What’s “failure to launch”?
It’s the pattern some families describe: a young adult who’s stuck — not working, not in school, not moving forward, often still living at home. It frequently overlaps with substance use or gambling, but not always. I work with many of these families, and it usually starts with a conversation.
What if my loved one refuses help?
That’s common, and it doesn’t mean you’re stuck. I tailor my approach to your family’s situation, with the goal of inviting your loved one into help. I can talk you through options even before your loved one is ready to speak with anyone.
Do you work with the whole family?
Yes — working with your family matters just as much as working with your loved one. Family Case Management means coaching on boundaries and detachment, staying informed throughout, and I am your single point of contact.
How discreet is this?
Discretion is the default. Many families I work with want to avoid a group setting where they might be recognized. Meetings happen at your home, a private setting, or wherever makes sense — and everything discussed stays completely confidential, between you and me.
What about gambling?
Gambling addiction coaching is one of the services I offer. I also run a free weekly gambling support group, in person or on Zoom, open to anyone — not just my clients.

Recovery doesn’t erase what happened — it makes room for what comes next. Most families call before they know exactly what they’re asking for; that is usually the right time to call. The work happens in person — a kitchen table, an apartment, wherever trust can start.
